Getting Published
Publishing is the occupation or activity of preparing and issuing books. A publishing company will duplicate a work of written content and make it widely available to the public.
There are two primary paths to getting published:
Land a traditional publisher who will offer you a book contract.
Self-publishing – freelance, or through a hired company, to help you publish your book.
Traditional publishing – are publishers who assume all costs and pay you an advance and royalties. (Make sure you have submitted a polished manuscript). Traditional publishing means your book is published by an established publishing house. They buy the rights to an author’s manuscript.
Self-publishing – is when a writer publishes independently and at one’s own expense. Self-publishing occurs when the writer handles the entire book publication process, and uses companies such as:
Amazon KDP, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble Press etc., to showcase their books.
